The cyclone paid its toll in NZ. The Bay of Islands was brown from all the rain over the past few weeks, but us die hard divers still dive. We headed to the wreck of the HMNZS Canterbury, yesterdays dive to the Rainbow Warrior was cancelled due to 35knot winds. The wreck sits at a depth of 35m with the deck around 24m. An interesting dive but the visibility was only around 7-8m. Water temp around 19°
For our second dive the captain took us through the "Hole in the Rock" and around to Waiwiri bay. An interesting little bay with a lot of kelp, some bull rays and a lot of Moray Eels. The highlight of this dive, although no photo, was the 5m Great White that swam by. This was a first for me seeing my first Great White in open ocean. They are big. It swam by myself and Mika, a small Japanese tourist. My camera was on Macro and the shark had gone by the time I changed over. Visibility 5-8m temp 21°
