Home Back

A rainy start to the morning, two boats heading from Port Botany, Heinz had a bit of a mishap on the way to the boat ramp and had to pull out, John decided not to go out and offloaded Jo and Graham onto my boat with Leo and Myself. We headed to Bypass Reef, knowing that the wind may pick up sometime late morning.

We anchored and sent Jo and Graham down into beautiful clear blue water. Leo and Myself descended a few minutes later, and the whole dive site was visible at 10m. I quickly looked around and got my bearings and took Leo over to the Sea Horses. There are 3 Sea Horses here and have been for about 12 months now. They are on the northern side of a rock outside the southern most cave. I signalled to Jo and Graham to come over to take a look. There was also a Giant Cuttlefish under the rock and a Blue Devil in the cave.

Our second dive to Whale Watch again revealed 20+m visibility. I led Jo and Graham to the caves, with a lot of fish, and around the Grotto and then to the small wall in front of the Cathedral where we found a Blue Devil Fish, then up to the overhang around to the stand alone bolder and back to the anchor.

It is very rare we see visibility like this in Sydney.
