After a week of no diving and a club dive to Pistol Crack, the seas with a 1.5m swell, we decide to dive Bypass Reef. I have Michael Roelens, Rudy and Heinz with me. Heinz has troubles equalising and aborted the dive, but we have a fantastic dive with lots of PJ's, a Blue Devil fish and 2 Seahorses. Michael hadn't seen Seahorses before so this was a real treat for him. One thing I noticed was the amount of fish around. Its been a long time since I have seen this many fish, mostly One Spots, but a lot all the same. For those who don't know Bypass Reef, its a reef with 3 sections. All sections have a cave/overhang with a lot of boulders laying around. These boulders have lots of growth including Sea Tulips. On the most southern section just off the cave there is a boulder with a east/west passage running by it on the northern side of this boulder are the Seahorses. On this occasion a juvenile Blue Devil fish was hanging around the Seahorses. With a nice fresh 18° and 15m visibility and lots of fish I can say that summer diving has just began.
Our second dive today at Whale Watch Platform was also great. 12m visibility and still 18°. We anchored in my usual spot and headed to the caves where we found a Cuttlefish. On the sand line around here a Weedy Sea Dragon, again lots of One Spots, and on the northern side of the amphitheatre we found 2 Wobbegong Sharks, one under a ledge and one on the Sand line.
