Today Leo from Aquasea came out for the first dive of the day, plan was to hit Underwater Wilderness but the surge close to shore was pretty big. Actually the seas were ok, but the movement of the swell was quite large.

After 2 attempts of getting the anchor hooked Leo jumped into the water and checked out the anchor, moments later he emerged and jumped back in the boat, his SPG was leaking, We broke out the repair kits and replaced the spindle and we all dropped in.

Once at the bottom we checked the anchor again and proceeded north to the split. Lots of PJ's were lying around.

Although the visibility wasn't great, for Barren's Hut that is, it was still around 10m and its always a great spot.

Surface interval, we headed back to the Dolan's Bay boat ramp to drop Leo off, he had to work. A cup of soup, and back out to Barren's for a 2nd dive.

Conditions were getting worse, but still divable, until we hit the bottom, the surge was huge down at 22m, on the way down the back anchor I let Rudy follow it and I crossed over to the front anchor, on the bottom I tried to hook it up a bit better, used up a lot of air trying to do this. Once set I tried to find the back anchor, visibility dropped to about 5m so I headed up the rope until i could see the back rope and followed it down to where Rudy was waiting.

We looked around for a further 15 mins and headed back to the anchor and surfaced.

We have always heard of conditions that can be pretty uncomfortable at Barren's now we have seen it first hand.
