Today we were to do what we wanted to do last week, out to Merries reef and then to 6 Fathom to recover the lost anchor. It was a great day for diving, a little chilly in the morning but turned out to be a great day.
We headed off to Merries, found it on the GPS, then headed North West until we saw the reef on the fish finder.
Merries is nothing to write home about, but we can tick it off as another site we have dived in Sydney.
Next we were going to head to 6 Fathom, but the boat engine wanted to play up a little (I tried to tune it a little after last week). I tune up the carbie a little and it then started to work fine.
After I lost the anchor at 6 Fathom, I marked it on the GPS, so we headed directly to the waypoint, dropped the dive flag with a weight and then anchored 40 meters to the north.
Over we went and headed to the flag, 3m from the weight was the anchor, tied it to the weight and went for a dive. While finning along my weight pocket dropped out, I grabbed it and put it back in. For the next 5 minute it kept falling out until I found that my torch lead was pulling at the velcro, fixed it up and continued on. 6 Fathom is worth diving, lots of unusual rock formations and a very large reef.
